in front of 是在整个物体的前面，in the front of 是在物体内部的前面。比如a tree is in front of the classroom是教室前面有棵树，树一般在教室外面的户外；而 there is a desk in the front of the classroom就是教室前面有张桌子，（比如讲台）是在教室里面的，这是内部方位。如果there is a desk in front of the classroom，那桌子就在教室外面了。
