Since the advent of plasma arcwelding of austenitic stainless steel in the Western countries, because of itsgood weldability, and beautiful weld appearance, etc., etc., it is widely used inthe field of welding of austenitic stainless steel.
This test is mainly attended tostudy the microstructure and properties of plasma arc welded joints of 06Cr19Ni10steel. Plasma arcwelding is used to weld 06Cr19Ni10 steel with the thicknesses of 6mm, 8mmand 10mm, TIG welding is used to cover up. After the test completed, the microstructuremorphology of the cross section of the welded joint is analyzed, the mechanicalproperties of the welded joints is tested, and the weld shape parameters aremeasured, then the microstructure and mechanical properties of the weldedjoints of the 06Cr19Ni10 steel with different thicknesses.
The results show that for theplasma arc welded joints of 06Cr19Ni10steel, the base material structure consists mainly of austenitic, and somegranular carbide distribution, and some twin crystals; HAZ consists mainly ofaustenite and carbide precipitation with zonal distribution; weld structureconsists of austenite with equiax crystal and the δ ferrite like dendrites. The tensilestrength of the welded joints is increased in different degree with increasingthickness; the tested joints in bending performance test is not defect, indicating the good performance of welded joints; the impact toughness of the weldwith 10mm sample is best, the impact toughness of the weld with 8mm sample isbest in HAZ. The hardness of the welded joint with 8mm sample is maximal. Weldshape parameter indicates that the 10mm joint shows best forming quality, andthose with 8mm, 6mm samples are less good.
