问个英语问题。

80% of the students ___(be) girl.
用are还是is?
当名词前有分数时，应怎么看待？
我在参考书上看到：80% of the population of china are famers.人口应该是不可数的吧？这里用复数是为什么呢?
还有，比如说：这5个苹果的五分之一是坏的。是不是用单数？谢谢了！

80% of the students are girls.
分数或百分数之后加of再加名词做主语，谓语动词的单复数由of后面名词的单复数来决定复数名词用复数的谓语动词，单数或不可数名词用单数的谓语动词。

population是个例外，单独使用意思是“人口”不可数，谓语动词用单数，但是与分数或百分数连用之后，它的意思发生了变化，意思是“。。。人口中的这些人”谓语动词就要用复数了。

至于“这五个苹果中的五分之一”英语不会表达为“one fifth of the five apples”而应该表达为“one of the five apples”谓语动词当然用单数。

当百分数、分数后面加名词或代词时，要根据这个名词或代词来决定其谓语动词的单复数形式。如果是复数名词或代词，谓语动词用复数；如果是单数名词（或不可数名词）或代词，谓语动词用单数。如：

①Fifty percent of the students in our school are girls. 我们学校百分之五十的学生是女生。

②Three-fourths of the surface of the earth is sea. 地球表面的四分之三是海洋。

这里因为students是复数 所以应该用are。
