1.lift 此处为名词，顺便搭载[C]；give sb. a lift 顺便载某人一程。

2.此题考查短语make a difference 有影响，有区别；否定式don't/doesn't/didn't make any difference 没有影响，没有区别。

3.now that 既然；even if/though 即使，虽然；根据句意可以选出；
句型there is no point in doing sth. 做某事有意义（记得这是我高二时学的）

4.考查翻译疑问句
规则一：含有主语从句、宾语从句、定语从句、状语从句的主从复合句后面的附加疑问句应与主句中的主、谓语一致。例如本句，是由that引导的宾语从句。
规则二：“I think/suppose/except/believe/imagine或I'm sure + 宾语从句”后面的附加疑问句要与从句的主、谓语保持一致。此时，无论主语还是从句中只要有一个是否定形式，附加问句就要用肯定形式。如：
I suppose that she is not honest, is she?
I'm sure he will come here tomorrow, won't he?
需要注意的是：复合句中主句主语为第二和第三人称时，附加问句与主句的主、谓语保持一致。如：
She didn't think I could work it out, did she?

5.先理解句意”一个人怎么死的并不重要,重要的是他怎么活的。”
die和live为不及物动词，不能与what搭配，且意思也说不过去；中间一空填的what相当于something that,that引导一个定语从句。

6.add to 增加，添加
add up 把……加起来； add up to 累加到；积累到

7.题目中有“a”，D当“工作”讲是不可数的，且不是指具体工作；A，C意思不符。position有“地位”，“职位”的意思。

8.词语辨析
scarce 1. 缺乏的;不足的（本题义）； 2. 稀有的,珍贵的
rare 1. 稀有的,罕见的； 2. 杰出的,珍贵的
few,little单独用表否定，显然与题意不符。

9.词组come into power 掌权.执政

10.后面有“with his eyes”是与眼睛有关，只有wide当副词“张得(或开得)很大地;充分地”讲时才说得过去。

11.draw a conclusion/different conclusions 得出结论/得出不同的结论
另外说一句，上面的这句翻译有些不是很妥当，句中用的是过去时drew，最好翻译成“从相同的事实中我们得出了不同的结论。”
