1、other ①、形容词，别的，其他的，如： Do you have any other question(s)? 你还有其他问题吗？ Ask some other people. 问问别人吧！ ②、代词 1.（两者中的）另一个或另一些，之前常用定冠词the，见下文“2、” 2.其他的，不是指剩下部分的全部， 相当于other+复数名词，见下文“3、” 2、the other 后接单数或复数名词，表示在一定范围内的其余所有的人或物，如： He has two daughters. One is a nurse, the other is a worker. 他有两个女儿，一个是护士，另一个是工人。 Mary is much taller than the other girls. 玛丽比其他的女孩高得多。 3、others 相当于other+复数名词,如： （注意：所指的其他人并非其他所有的人，指其他部分的全部， 请看“4、”。） ome people like walking. Some like running. Others like swimming. 有些人喜欢散步，有些人喜欢跑步，其他人喜欢游泳。 He is always ready to help others. 他总是乐于助人。 4、the others 其余的 相当于the other的复数形式，特指某一范围内的其他全部，如： Two boys will go to the zoo, and the others will stay at home. 两个男孩将去动物园，其余的留在家里。 Thirty of them are boy students and the others are girls. 他们当中三十人是男生，其他人是女生。
The other: 其中的the作定冠词用时，the other指的是（二者之中）另一个（方等）的。 例：John is here,but the other boys are at school. 汤姆在这里，其余的孩子都在学校里。 比较：He came to see me the other day. 他几天前来看我。 others： [复]另外的人（或物）；其他的人（或物）： Alice didn't like that dress,so she asked to see some others. 爱丽丝不喜欢那几件衣服，要看另外几件。
another： （1）再一，又一：Have another cup of tea.再喝一杯茶。/The strike may last another six weeks.罢工可能再持续6周。（*在一般情况下，another 后面加单数名词，不用复数，但后面可以加few或带数字的复数名词，表达这一意思时，不能用other） （2）别的，另一：That's quite another matter.那完全是另外一回事。 （3）类似的，同一类的：He is very clever,he may be another Edison.他很聪明，或许会成为另一个爱迪生。 pron.另一个：I don't like this one,show me another.我不喜欢这个，另给我拿一个。/Saying is one thing and doing is another.说是一回事，做又是一回事。
