　　The Sping Festival is the most important festival in our country. It is a national holiday and people play firecrackers, hang lantern, affix Spring Festival couplets during the festival which means celebration. On Lunar New Year eve, every family get together to have a banquet. On the next day, which we call the beginning of New Year, people usually make ceremonial calls to wish good luck to relatives and friends.
　　However, the young and the old have different attitudes towards the Sping Festival. Nowadays, an increasing number of young people celebrate Spring Festival in new ways such as chatting with their friends on the Internet, meanwhile an estimated audience of more than one billion people are attracted by the New Year's television gala. In comparison, the television gala has become the part or even the blood in the old's lives. They prefer the tradition and take it for granted that the Evening should exist. In their views, it's one of the most important customs of celebration and it's worth watching. I don't think the Evening should be cancelled, but it indeed needs a reform, changing the way or the content of the show. Only by this way can it attract more youngers.
　　When I was a child, I was in fond of the festival very much, because I could eat delicious food and get red packages from my parents and relatives. Nowadays, I prefer sitting with my family and chatting. After the meal, we sit together watching TV. That time in my opinion is the happiest of the whole year. In the future, when I go out of the campus becoming a wage-earner and have enough moeny, I 'd like to tour with my family during the Spring Festival.
　　In some areas, people have traditional entertainments to celebrate the festival. They have dragon dances and lion dances. The lion is believed to be able to dispel evil and bring good lucks, while the dragon is believed to bring good weather and good harvests. In some places of the northern areas of our country, almost every family prepares a special kind of New Year pudding made of glutinous rice flour. Acturally, nearly all the people over the country play fireworks to express joy and happiness during the Spring Festival, which is regarded as one of China's most important customs. What's more, many people pay New Year's call and eat Jiao-zi during the festival.
　　However, as Chinese become more aware of environment protection, playing fireworks has already been prohibited in many cities. Playing fireworks may cause fire and some fireworks without quality guarantee may hurt people. Considering environment and people's security, I think the government's prohibiting playing fireworks is advisable.
　　Since our country was open to the outside world, more and more festivals of western countries have flooded to China. It has made an increasing number of people especially youngers become indifferent to the Spring Festival. In my view, we should keep the Spring Festival because it's our country's greatest traditional festival. What's more, Sping Festival is one part of China's civilization and we shoudn't lose it.
　　It is nearly one month since the 2007 Sping Festival, but I am still immersing myself in the atmosphere of the festival !
