Dear Earth,
Would you please slow down a little bit in turning, so that I could sleep? You know I'll have marketing course tomorrow morning and I need some intellegence in processing those theories. I really don't understand why you work differently in America and I seldom got good sleep at night.
I lighted up candles and watched the shadows dancing on the wall. But they made me even more homesick by recalling the story father told many years ago at a candle night. I sneaked into the kitchen and tried to find some wine but suddenly remembered here was Lubbock, a dry town, not my Beijing apartment where I could have a sip in a sleepless night. There was also a small coffee bar in the basement of my Beijing apartment building where residents usually went. Sometimes I met frineds and participated English Club activities there. One time I couldn't go to sleep in deep night, so I went down there to ordera a drink and watch an ancient Japanese movie. These memories seemed so far away in daytime, but vivid now.
Then I played Chinese songs which were popular when I left China. My best friend collected them and stored in my computer. I'm not a big fan of those songs sang by handsome and beautiful stars. But they really sounded good in America and brough up so many things of my silly&lovely college life, of my friends, and also of a flavor the unnecessary hassles of modern Chinese society. My eyes became moist for unknown reasons.
My roommate told me that a thick mattress would help people sleep. Maybe I shall try it. But to be frank, I don't believe it'll really work on me.
Good night, my earth. Tomorrow is another day full of classes.
