最简单的区别：
other 主要是“其他（的）”的意思；
“两个中的另一个”用“the other”表示。
another主要是“另一个an other”的意思，而且不确定，不特指
一、other
1. other做形容词：
其他的；另外的；（两个里）另一个的；另一边的。
1）用在不可数名词或可数名词复数前:
Other travel informationcan be obtained by calling the free phone number.
其他旅行信息可以通过拨打免费电话号码获得。
Some music calms people; other music has the opposite effect.
有些音乐能使人平静下来，而另一些音乐则有相反的效果。
This one’s too big. Do you have it in other sizes?
这个太大了。有其他尺寸的吗？
Have you got any other questions?
你还有其他问题吗？
Some children learn quickly but other children need more time.
有些孩子学得很快，但其他孩子需要更多的时间。
2)用在可数名词单数前，一般前面要加其他限定词:
I can't find my other shoe.

Jeremy is at university; our other son is still at school.

一般认为each other 指两者，other another指三者或三者以上。但在实际运用中，这两个短语常可互换.
