hope的用法：hope可做动词和名词。没有hope sb. to do sth.的用法，均转化为hope that sb. will do
1、作名词
短语：in the hope of doing=in hope of=in hopes of doing怀着希望做某事
He went to a newspaper office in the hope of getting a job.
他去报社希望得到一份工作。
I have no hope of（doing）sth.没有做某事的的希望了，当事人还是想做
I lost my wallet and have no hope of getting it back. 没有失而复得的机会了
I have no hope of going. 我没机会去(But I want)。
2、作动词
I hope that she will answer my letter soon=I hope that she answers my letter soon.

表达什么事情是被希望的用下面句型：
It is hoped that……
（1）过去式的hoped to do:确实是希望干某事，也就是“希望”这个动作发生时，那件事还没发生，当事人愿意看到发生
She hoped to give her a good education.珍妮那时希望给她良好的教育
（2）过去式的hoped to have done：本希望某事发生，却事与愿违(当事人以为能发生的)
I hoped to have seen you at the party. 多半对方没有赴约。

hope与wish的不同之处:
1. wish作为及物动词，可接名词或代词作宾语，hope则不能。
Do you wish a pen or a book?你要的是钢笔还是书？
2. wish能接双宾语表示祝愿，hope则不能。
I wish you success. 我祝你成功。
3. wish能接复合宾语，hope则不能。
I wish you to go with me. 我希望你同我一道去。
4. wish和hope都能接that引导的从句，但wish后的从句的谓语动词要用虚拟语气（动词用过去时，或过去完成时），hope则用所需要的时态。
