Ladies and gentlemen,good morning!

I am honored to have the opportunity to talk to you about my study of English.

More than ten years have passed since I began to learn English. During these years,I have met with many difficulties. Among the greatest difficulties I have faced are my paralyzing fear of speaking English,and my inability to write English compositions.

Today,I stand before you giving a speech of my own composition.How did I overcome my difficulties?About a year ago,I watched a TV program about Crazy English.It encouraged people to speak English loudly,guickly and clearly. It inspired me to seize every chance to speak English.I forced myself to overcome my fear and to use the sentence patterns, phrases and expressions that I knew.Believe it or not,I have,little by little,overcome my shyness.Now,I am pleased to say that I am able to express myself in English for two or three minutes without significant pauses.As to writing,an English professor advised me that good writing comes from good reading.I followed her advice and tried my utmost to memorize the good paragraphs or short passages that I read.In so doing,I realized how to organize a clear composition,how to use set sentence patterns,and how to express my own ideas in written English.

I am overjoyed to have made such rapid progress in both spoken and written English.Of course,I know this is only the beginning:there is still a long way for me to go before I can claim to have a mastered the English language.However,"Where there is a will,there is a way,"and I utterly refuse to fail!

今天，我站在你们面前，用我自己的作文向你们发表演讲。我是如何克服困难的呢？大约一年前，我看到了一个有关“疯狂英语”的电视节目。这个节目鼓励人们说英语要大声、快速和清晰。我受到了很大的鼓舞，于是我便抓住每一个机会来说英语。我强迫自己克服恐惧，去运用我所掌握的英语句型、短语和习惯表达。不管你信不信，我一点一点地克服了我的羞怯。现在，我很高兴地告诉大家，我能够在两三分钟将诶连续不断地用英语表达自己。关于写作，以为英语教授给了我建议，即好的写作来源于好的阅读。我就按照她的建议，竭尽全力背诵我读到的一些好的段落或短文。通过这样的积累，我知道如何构思一篇结构清晰的文章，如何运用固定的句型，以及如何在作文中清楚地表达自己的思想。

在英语口语和写作上取得了如此迅速的进步让我感到欣喜若狂。当然，我知道这只是开始：要熟练掌握英语，我还有很长的一段路要走。然而，“有志者事竟成，”成功一定是属于我的！
