There are currently three types of programmes available:
Exchange: These places are offered at no additional tuition fee cost to students. You will continue to pay your usual tuition fee to UNNC. With the exception of IB students wishing to study at the University of Nottingham in Malaysia, Exchange places are limited to only one semester at participating Universities. Exchange students take modules for credit at the partner institution that count towards their degree at UNNC.
Study Abroad: These places are available only at the University of Nottingham in the UK and students will be required to pay a fee of £4,050 per semester instead of your usual UNNC tuition fee. (EEA/EU students please check with the International Office to confirm the fee). Study Abroad students take modules for credit that count towards their degree at UNNC. In some cases, where permitted, a semester on Study Abroad can be combined with an Exchange semester (or another Study Abroad semester) for a total of up to one year at the University of Nottingham in the UK.
Summer Institute/Summer School: These programmes are available at no additional tuition fee cost to students and are comprised of shorter periods of study during the summer. While participants take modules that do not count towards their degree at UNNC, students will receive a completion certificate and valuable international experience.
In all cases, students will be expected to bear the costs of travel to/from the partner institution and local living expenses such as accommodation and food.
Most of the places available on the above programmes are at the University of Nottingham, UK and the University of Nottingham, Malaysia campuses. Other partner Universities offer between two and ten places each. Due to the expected demand for places, those selected for overseas study will be limited to only one of the three choices indicated on the application form.
While UNNC will provide all possible assistance, the offer of a place on one of the above programmes is subject to the student obtaining the necessary visa.
Selection of Candidates:
1. Current year two students who wish to study overseas during the third year in 2009-2010 must complete an application form (over) by Friday 6 March 2009.
2. A selection committee will consider candidates on the basis of their academic performance in semester one of the 2008-2009 session.
3. Students applying for exchanges at Universitas 21 (U21) partners normally require a minimum average of 60% in semester 1 of year 2.
4. Due to the competition for places the selection committee may take into consideration the record of any students who have a significant number of unauthorised absences.
5. Chinese students must have satisfactorily completed the compulsory Physical Education and Politics modules to be eligible for overseas study.
