With a good book in our hands we never feel lonely. The people we meet in books may delight us as our companions and friends. Our human friends may sometimes bore us, but good books are always ready to give us friendship and encouragement.
From good books we can heartily enjoy the beauties of nature, the triumphs of science and technology, and the treasures of music and art.
From good books, moreover, we can still draw much instruction which few companions can offer. Reading good books can help to advance our knowledge and improve our mind so as to equip ourselves to perform our work more efficiently.
