mean既可以用作动词，也可以用作形容词，means还可以作名词，含义非常多，经常会用作完形填空的选项，是非常重要的高考考点。
1.mean用作动词（meant，meant）
①意思是（一般无进行时）
If you nod your head you usually mean yes. 如果你点头，你的意思通常是“是”。（外研版第4册）
I really don't know what you mean. 我真的不明白你的意思。
②意味着（一般无进行时）
mean doing sth意味着做某事

①吝啬的，小气的

②卑鄙的，刻薄的，不善良的
Don't be so mean to your little brother! 别对你弟弟那么刻薄!
③平庸的，一般的

④低劣而肮脏的
