1.could 是can的一般过去式，can就是说某人会做什么事，或者能够怎么样，强调在能力范围之内。
比如： I can swim. 就是我会游泳
Difficulties can and must be overcome.
困难能够而且必须克服。
2.be able to
able 一般指人,表示“现在确实具有做某事的能力”, 有时意味着“高超的能力或技艺”
所以be able to……给人感觉就是主语有能力去完成这件事情。
3..manage to 表示设法做某事，通常是做到了，成功了。经常和try to作比较。try to do sth。是尽力做，但不一定成功。
比如：We finally managed to get there
in time.
最后我们及时赶到了。
