test of spoken English will be included as an opt-ional component of the College English Test (CET). Ma-ny people believe a test of spoken English is an impo-rtant part of the language. only when a person speaks fluent English can he say he has a good command of th-e English language. Therefore, a test should be devis-ed to assess students%26#39; ability in spoken English.
However, some people take a different attitude to-wards it. They think that a test of written English i-s enough and a test of spoken English is unnecessary. They hold that students%26#39; ability in English can be me-asured in a test of written English and a test of spo-ken English will add to the burden of the students.
In my opinion, every foreign-language-learner sho-uld concentrate on listening and speaking, and a test of spoken English will stimulate students to improve their oral English. In a nutshell, such a test is abs-olutely necessary, and if possible I intend to take it.
